Two Passions PhotoWalk
The Two Passions PhotoWalk I hosted last Saturday at Kalk Bay harbour attracted nearly 30 photo enthusiasts. I really enjoyed meeting all the new faces and chatting about all things photography. Some folk were really enthusiastic and got down to the harbour by 05:30 in order to catch the sun rise. Well done guys! I look forward to seeing your pic.
I am planning the next Two Passions walk to take place in January 2012 and plan to host it in and around the village of Kalk Bay this time. Some of my pics from last Saturday can be seen here.
Time for another Two Passions.
This time a bit different – no limit on numbers, no cost (yip, I’m making this a freebie).
Saturday, 26 November, 7am – 9am,
Kalk Bay Harbour.
RSVP to stephen@stephenc.co.za
All you need is a DSLR camera, passion, enthusiasm and a will to learn or to teach others. This is a PhotoWalk open to all enthusiasts – pro, amateur and anything in between.
Two Passions
…Photography…Kalk Bay…
Two of my passions are photography and Kalk Bay.
I was born in Kalk Bay and spent 30 years getting to know the cobbled streets, the harbour, the butcher shop, the rock pools and mountains, the green grocer, the shoe repair shop…I went to school there and I went fishing on the local fishing boats. I have deep roots in this beautiful little village.
I facilitate photo workshops aimed at enthusiats and owners of DSLR cameras. I find the harbour is the perfect spot for these workshops as the area has loads of photo opportunities and it is also contained so I get to interact with all the enthusiasts. Watch this space and my Facebook page for upcoming workshops.
I have noted the number of people today buying expensive digital SLR cameras and then using only the basic functions due to simply not knowing how/when/where to use the more advanced functions – the cameras of today have soooo many functions that this can sometimes just be over whelming. These workshops, or playshops, are just two hours long (I find this just the right amount of time to keep the creative juices flowing) and take place in the early morning at Kalk Bay harbour. The early start alows us to make the most of the good morning light and the harbour is also less busy at that time. And then you still have your Saturday morning available to you to do what you need to do… These workshops ares open to all DSLR photo enthusiasts (Canon equipment preferred) and your level of expertise is not a pre-requisite. Sometimes it is just fun to come out and make images with a bunch of other enthusiasts.
During the workshop you get to:
o ask the questions…
o learn about settings on your camera…
o push the boundaries…
o try out equipment (lenses – macro, wide angle, zoom, tripods, flashes)…
o review your images on the spot…
o interact with other photographers in a small, intimate group…
o get to photograph the beauty of Kalk Bay in the early morning light…
Play and have fun! Only R300 per person for session.
